The Chile de Árbol pepper is a small and very tasty chilli pepper also known as bird's beak chilli and rat tail chilli.
These peppers are about 5 to 7.5 cm long and 0.65 to 1 cm in diameter.
Their heat index (SHU) ranges from 15,000 to 30,000 Scoville units.
The peppers start out green and turn bright red as they ripen. Chile de árbol peppers can be found fresh, dried or in powder form. As dried peppers, they are often used to decorate flower wreaths because they do not lose their red colour after dehydration.
