The Bolivian Rainbow is more than a chili pepper โ it is a colourful display. Originally from Bolivia and grown in the Andes for generations, its small upward-pointing peppers ripen from purple through yellow and orange to red. Several colours appear on the same plant at once, like a Christmas tree!
Mild to medium heat: usually 10,000โ30,000 Scoville Heat Units (SHU), comparable to cayenne or Tabasco peppers; pleasantly spicy without extreme intensity.
Its taste is mild, sweet and fruity, with subtle citrus notes and a pepper-like flavour. Its outstanding feature, however, is its beauty.
The small, conical, upright fruits are about 2โ3 cm long. The compact, bushy plant grows roughly 30โ60 cm tall and often has purple flowers or dark purple foliage, making it suitable for pots and indoor cultivation.
Perfect as an ornamental pepper, but also edible: enjoy fresh in salads and salsas, preserve it or dry it for colourful spicy paprika.
An impressive rainbow of colours throughout the growing season.
